API 5L X60 Pipe

API 5L X60 pipes are line pipes used in petroleum, power generation plant and in boiler applications for the transportation of oil, water and gas under high pressure and temperature. This is a specification of high yield, high temperature and high pressure liquid transportation pipes. These can come in different diameters ranging from 3/8 inches to 30 inches with different wall thickness ranging up to 250mm. The yield strength is high with a minimum of 60000PSI and the minimum of 75000PSI tensile strength. API 5L X60 PSL2 is the best product level out of the two with API 5L X60 PSL1 having lower mechanical qualities. The PSL1 however is the normally used product specification level. The chemical composition varies slightly but in general the API 5L Grade X60 has 028% carbon max, 1.40% manganese max, 0.030% phosphorous max, 0.030% sulfur max. This composition is what gives the API 5L X60 Grade B its notch toughness and strength to be used in the line pipe systems. The HIC Tested X60 is certified against hydrogen embrittlement. The ISO 3183 L415 Grade X60 standards are maintained to keep the pipes with the desired mechanical properties and qualities. The pipes can come in different sizes from 5m to custom cut lengths, different coatings and in different ends such as plain and beveled ends.
